Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, to the extent allowed by law. The Bee Conservatory is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 93-1556974). Zeffy emails your receipt immediately. Starting in 2026, people who don’t itemize can deduct up to $1,000 (single) or $2,000 (joint) of cash gifts to charities like ours. If you need our IRS determination letter for your records or an employer match, email us and we will send it the same day.
What is the optional tip at checkout?
Zeffy charges us no platform or card fees. It pays for its service by asking donors for an optional tip to Zeffy at checkout. The tip goes to Zeffy, not to us, and you can set it to $0 using the dropdown in the form. Your donation amount reaches us in full either way.
Can I give monthly?
Yes, choose a recurring option in the form. Monthly gifts are the most useful kind for a small nonprofit because they let us plan swarm-season staffing, plant orders, and school visits months ahead. You can change or cancel a recurring gift at any time through the link in your Zeffy receipt.
Can I choose what my gift funds?
Gifts are unrestricted unless you tell us otherwise, which means they go to whichever program needs them most that season. You can designate a gift to rescue, habitat, or education by noting it at checkout or emailing us. Unrestricted gifts help most, because they cover the season’s most urgent needs.
Is The Bee Conservatory the same as The Bee Conservancy?
The Bee Conservatory is a Sacramento, California nonprofit. It is not affiliated with The Bee Conservancy, a separate New York organization with a similar name. Our EIN is 93-1556974. Check it on your receipt to make sure your gift reached the organization you intended.
Can I give stock, a DAF grant, or an IRA distribution?
Yes. Email info@thebeeconservatory.com and we will send instructions for gifts of stock, donor-advised fund grants, or qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from an IRA if you are 70½ or older. For employer matching, we can provide our EIN and verification documents the same day.
Where can I see what you have accomplished?
Our Impact page shows our field work, including photos from real rescues. We are a young organization, so if you want budget or board details before giving, email us. A good charity should be able to answer those questions, and we will.
I don’t live in Sacramento. Does my gift still matter?
