Looking Back

Events that built this community

Every event we run adds to a growing network of informed citizens, restored habitats, and protected hives. Here is what the last few months looked like on the ground.

Earth Day Hive Placement Celebration

Over 120 community members gathered at Sacramento's Clunie Community Center for our annual Earth Day event. Attendees met several colonies that had been rescued from extermination and watched their placement into permanent apiary homes. Three local schools received hive sponsorships funded by attendee donations.

Spring Habitat Restoration Weekend

Forty-two volunteers worked across two days to plant a 1.2-acre native wildflower corridor at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area. Species planted included purple coneflower, California poppy, gumplant, and native buckwheat — all selected for their high value to native bee populations.

Classroom Bee Day — Elk Grove USD

Our education team delivered 14 school assembly programs across Elk Grove Unified School District over two days, reaching more than 1,800 students in grades 3 through 6. Each school received a classroom observation hive and a copy of our Bee Activity Kit.
